High Blood Pressure And Me


The problem with high blood pressure is that when you have it you don’t know that you have it, until you happen to get a pressure test. I am now 75 years old and have had the problem for more than 35 years that I have known about. It all started one day when I twisted my ankle. Wanting to make sure that it wasn’t broken, I limped off to the local hospital emergency room. The nurse, as is usually the case, went through the usual temperature and blood pressure testing. She wrapped the pressure pad around my arm and began squeezing the rubber bulb. My appetite was zero and so was my energy. The next morning I felt fine and all the symptoms except the diarrhea had disappeared. Needless to say, I quit using THAT medication.

Today my blood pressure is generally under control but occasionally even now it will soar up to 212/100 for short periods of time, even when I am just sitting around relaxing, especially in the early morning. The key point here is to understand that no matter how someone leaves you feeling or ‘makes’ you feel, the way you respond to that feeling is your choice.
